  • Swim 10 metres back crawl full stroke
  • Fully submerge whole body to the pool floor (Depth at teachers discretion)
  • Be at ease jumping into the pool at a minimum depth of 0.9 metres
  • Whilst performing a push and glide or swimming rotate from front to back
  • Whilst performing a push and glide or swimming rotate from back to front

What we will do

We start by ensuring your child’s kicks are correct and make any corrections needed. Once we are happy with the kicks we will proceed to work on front crawl and back stroke arms. These elements will play a major part in stage 3 and are important factors in developing a complete stroke. We will also be working on front crawl breathing (bilateral breathing) which is very technical element. We will do all this in a fun and informative manner ensuring high standards.

Things you can do when the family go swimming

  • Practice the arm movements both in and out the water to help boost understanding of movement
  • Practice the front crawl breathing movement in and out the water. Front crawl breathing is a very technical skill and will take practice. Once it’s understood it will become second nature though
  • To help your child submerge explain the top of your head guides your body, so pointing it down will guide the body down
